Nanoscale phase separations in as-fabricated thick super duplex stainless steels

چکیده

Abstract Nanoscale phase separations, and effects of these, were studied for thick super duplex stainless steel products by atom probe tomography mechanical testing. Although nanoscale separations typically occur during long-time service at intermediate temperatures (300–500° C, our results show that slowly cooled start to develop Fe Cr separation and/or precipitation Cu-rich particles already fabrication. Copper significantly slowed down the kinetics expense particle precipitation, where high-copper material subjected hot isostatic pressing (HIP), with Δ t 500–400 160 s low-copper hot-rolled plate 2 had same level separation. The resulted in lower toughness higher hardness HIP than plate. Therefore, both local cooling rate dependent alloy composition governed variations can be expected as-fabricated condition.

Effect of Secondary Phase Precipitation on the Corrosion Behavior of Duplex Stainless Steels

Duplex stainless steels (DSSs) with austenitic and ferritic phases have been increasingly used for many industrial applications due to their good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance in acidic, caustic and marine environments. However, DSSs are susceptible to intergranular, pitting and stress corrosion in corrosive environments due to the formation of secondary phases. Such phases are...

Corrosion performance of welds in duplex, superduplex and lean duplex stainless steels

To achieve good corrosion resistance in a weld is much more challenging than for plate or sheet material, which has undergone controlled rolling, heat treatment and pickling processes in the steel mill. The choice of weld procedure and parameters, filler metal and shielding gas all play important roles. For duplex and lean duplex grades it is essential to ensure that an adequate amount of auste...
